From Council Member Poole’s office:

Neighbors,

As you may be aware, the city is currently revising its Land Development Code through a process known as “CodeNEXT.”

The Land Development Code determines how land can be used throughout Austin, including what can be built and where it can be built. One of the main goal of this process is to create a Land Development Code that is fair and aligns more closely with the Imagine Austin comprehensive plan.

CodeNEXT will significantly shape our neighborhoods and communities – and all interested Austinites are encouraged to engage with the city on this subject and make their voice heard.

To vet and advise on CodeNEXT, City Council appointed a Land Development Code Advisory Group (CAG). The CAG meetings are public, and Austinites are encouraged to attend and participate in the meetings during public comment periods, including at the following:

  • Special CAG Meeting for Public Comment on January 12 at 6 PM at 721 Barton Springs Road (Room 130) (parking is available in the garage behind the building and speakers at the meeting will be limited to three minutes each); and
  • Regular CAG Meetings on the first Monday of each month from 6 PM to 9 PM at a location to be announced.

Can’t attend the meetings? Stay up to speed by going to http://austintexas.gov/atxn#channel6live.The meetings may not always be “live” but you can find videos in the archives section via the link. The televised CodeNEXT meetings are a relatively new development in the CodeNEXT process, accomplished as a result of a 2016 budget initiative I am proud to have sponsored.
