Memberships Change to Calendar Year Basis

Based on a 2014 bylaw change, all Crestview Neighbohood Association memberships will now be held on a calendar year basis. This means all current memberships expire on Dec. 31 2015.  Members will renew their annual memberships for the period of Jan. 1, 2016 – December 31, 2016. There will be a 120-day grace period: members will have until March to renew and remain a member in good standing during that time. We will begin accepting 2016 membership renewals and new memberships in the coming days via a link on our website.

PLUS…We will have a membership drive beginning Monday the 21st at our Holiday Mingle! Join us at 7pm in the Crestview Shopping Center for hot cider, cookies, a stroll along the luminarias, and easy membership renewal!

Questions about the change? Vice-President Steven Knapp explains the rationale:

Really it was just about simplicity of record keeping and a way to allow for solid membership drives. On the records side, the rolling memberships we had going into 2014 kept [the treasurer] very busy trying to see who was current and who wasn’t, and it was equally as confusing for members to know if they had paid in the past 12 months or not.

On the budgeting side, it also added a little bit of unknown as it was hard to project renewals when creating the next year’s budget because people were coming in and out of membership all throughout the year and of course lapsing for a while in between.

Going to straight calendar year made it easy to keep up with on record keeping, as membership is just Jan – Dec, so if you’ve paid during the year, you’re good.

And budgeting can begin to anticipate renewal percentages and then decide if we should do a fall membership drive or not to get the next year off to a strong start.
